What is the general quality of video images here? Are some videos unwatchable or are some almost High Definition? We let you know what to expect….
Video killed the Radio Star
The quality of the videos on offer via MTV is good, although some took a while to connect or buffer.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

Viewers can search under categories such as ‘Artists’, ‘TV schedules’, ‘Videos’ and ‘Full Episodes’.  You can search alphabetically, by group or various other navigational features, all of which are helpful.

During our time checking out the site we had a few links for full episodes that simply didn’t work, as well as another on the music page that persistently reverted to a different song by the same band.

The navigation seems to work fine but the links were unreliable.  Very disappointing for a TV channel & site of this stature.

The videos online that we checked out contained lots of comments; MTV viewers like to get involved and share their thoughts on the free TV and video on offer.

Is this site invaded by commercials? We watched a range of videos and evaluated how many annoying adverts popped up before we could view what we wanted… .
The advertisement breaks are present in the full clips but they are empty and the video just stalls for a few seconds. There are adverts on the site but it is not overly commercial at all.

Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..

The site basically does what you would expect; there are no particular web features or content that stands out as being different or innovative.

MTV.com does the job but when you compare it to rival sites its content is not as up to date and the links are more problematic.  To excel at anything you need to get the basics right first.

MTV has a growing range of shows, however, the full episode clips on offer did not reflect the breadth of programming and popular shows such as My Sweet Sixteen, were not available for viewing.
