Obviously the quality of the videos online is not on par with networks and movie production companies. This isn’t a site with loads of HD, surround sound and other enhancements. 
But then the content doesn’t merit it – it stands up fine all by itself – this is a clear case of the quality of the content winning out against the need for packaging.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
Not only does ted.com have interesting content but it has unusual ways of presenting the TV channel info on the site. 
As well as the standard navigational features (which work a treat) there is the visualization tool, which displays screen shots in descending order to your chosen category, for example, ‘most commented’, ‘rated jaw dropping’, ‘funny’, ‘persuasive’ and more.

Viewers have the ability to share, rate and comment. One handy feature is that recent comments across all clips are posted up at the bottom of the home page – usually you only get to view the comments on clips you have selected, this way you are tempted to click on clips you may not otherwise have viewed.

Is this site invaded by commercials? We watched a range of videos and evaluated how many annoying adverts popped up before we could view what we wanted… .
There are ads pre and post clip but not during. These were short and not overly distracting or annoying.

Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..
This site does what few dare to do – it focuses on a very narrow niche market and makes no effort to spread its wings any further than its remit.  
When you first surf through the site it feels like you have discovered a best kept secret. Ted.com is brave, distinctive and brilliant!

Metacafe distinguishes itself from other video sharing sites such as YouTube, aiming to deliver high quality entertainment in the form of short video clips. It strives for a ‘sophisticated’, audience-driven approach.

The video company has a growing diversity of partners including ‘top movie studios, music labels, professional sports leagues, television networks, video game publishers and best-of-the-web production firms’.

The site appears to have lofty creative aspirations and be innovative in its approach but we are not so sure about its audience - 2 out of their top 3 top video channels are porn!
