How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
There are a few categories to sort by although these are fairly general. The category for ‘United States’ for example, brought up over 200 pages with no sub-categories available for filtering. Audio and video clips are also listed together.
The categories filter gives you no visual reminder of where you are on the site – there was no navigation trail for you retrace your steps or just to confirm your position on the site.
Overall the navigation was too basic and you are probably better off using the search box instead.
What video sharing options does this site offer? Can I share videos, embed videos, download or make comments here?.
You can embed, download or subscribe by RSS to live newsclips on the site. There is no rating or commenting, which is a shame, as the main magazine site has a well used commentary box which really adds vibrancy to the site.
There is however a nice email form with a pre-set message to share emails with others.
Range of news covered. Here we evaluated the range of news stories, categories and videos included. Extra points were given to videos with a wide ranging and international scope..
The scope of topics is broad although the video site doesn’t jive well with the main magazine – it would be nice to have videos on current topics in the magazine highlighted as feature articles as opposed to treating the video site as a separate entity.
