The navigation on this site rocks. Lots of clear categories and sub categories plus ‘Hot Topics’ and ‘Latest’ categories. Job well done.

You can share, and embed video links. Unfortunately there is no ability to rate or comment on clips, which is a shame because the commentary on the main site shows that Fox are pressing all the right buttons, covering contentious news stories and current affairs that stimulate and divide opinion. The comments section on articles is alive with deas, feedback, discussion and debate. By stark contrast, video viewers are not given any outlet for their views.  Shame.

Is this site invaded by commercials? We watched a range of videos and evaluated how many annoying adverts popped up before we could view what we wanted… .
There are adverts on the homepage as well as pre and post video news clip. Annoying but standard among TV news sites.

Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..
The site is well designed and contains topical and diverse clips.  However, its lack of interaction with viewers lets it down and makes it a one-sided provider of news rather than a catalyst for debate that provokes an active viewer interface.

There is an RSS feed and a blog on the Fox site. Other than that the guys at Fox are obviously not keen social networkers – which is a shame because many of their viewers are and will miss this modern, yet missing dimension to their video news site.

Metacafe distinguishes itself from other video sharing sites such as YouTube, aiming to deliver high quality entertainment in the form of short video clips. It strives for a ‘sophisticated’, audience-driven approach.

The video company has a growing diversity of partners including ‘top movie studios, music labels, professional sports leagues, television networks, video game publishers and best-of-the-web production firms’.

The site appears to have lofty creative aspirations and be innovative in its approach but we are not so sure about its audience - 2 out of their top 3 top video channels are porn!
