How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
From the main site you can access a number of country-specific sub sites. Each has categories of video news including, ‘entertainment’, ‘sports’, ‘world’, as well as a home page with ‘breaking news’ and ‘big stories’ from around the site. There are also ‘most recent’ and ‘most popular’ sections.
Each category contains videos, photos and relevant news stories. You can also search using key words in the search box to get to articles direct. The system works well and gets you where you need to be.

Is this site invaded by commercials? We watched a range of videos and evaluated how many annoying adverts popped up before we could view what we wanted… .
There are adverts both on the site and before and after video live news clips.
If you are just going to watch one clip it is not too bothersome but if you wish to watch several then the repetitive adverts, by the same companies, begin to grate pretty quickly.

Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..
The international feel of the site, with options to tailor your screen to the Reuters service in different parts of the world is great.  It gives viewers access to in-depth news from different regions as opposed to just a flavor from the main site.
We also liked the ‘Your View’ section which is basically for ‘citizen journalists’ to upload stories, pictures and videos. Viewers have the option to comment on these stories too.

Reuters still find time to portray the wackier wide of life, with categories such as ‘oddly enough’.

Metacafe distinguishes itself from other video sharing sites such as YouTube, aiming to deliver high quality entertainment in the form of short video clips. It strives for a ‘sophisticated’, audience-driven approach.

The video company has a growing diversity of partners including ‘top movie studios, music labels, professional sports leagues, television networks, video game publishers and best-of-the-web production firms’.

The site appears to have lofty creative aspirations and be innovative in its approach but we are not so sure about its audience - 2 out of their top 3 top video channels are porn!
