The quality of the videos online was variable to say the least. Although some were professionally produced or network shows, others were filmed in front of the TV or were out of focus and blurred.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
Navigation is via categories such as pets, sports, comedy and music or by filters such as Most Recent, Top Rated, Most Discussed. The video system works well enough.

What video sharing options does this site offer? Can I share videos, embed videos, download or make comments here?.

Lots of video sharing options here including embedding, email, comment and even chat.  Unlike YouTube, it also allows downloads.

All sounds good so far but there is a bit downside….. Megavideo have a set time limit for non-members – you get 72 minutes viewing time and then have to wait up to 54 minutes before you can watch any more.  That means you can’t watch a 2 hour movie in its entirety - what other site has a restrictive policy like that?  This is certainly not a site for the ‘instant gratification’ generation. A definite ‘own goal’.

Is this site invaded by commercials? We watched a range of videos and evaluated how many annoying adverts popped up before we could view what we wanted… .
Premium members can monetarize their clips with advertizing. The adverts on the site were not too intrusive and only premium members’ videos contain adverts.  The site is commercial but not overly so.

Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..

There are so many video sharing sites on the web now. The ones that stand out either have the best quality and quantity of clips or the best creation tools and support.

Megavideo has neither.

How easy to use is the video upload tool? Are there clear guidelines? Are there privacy options? What is the limit of the size and type of video file that can be uploaded?.

Upload size varies on membership; 5mb for members, 5gb for premium members. There is a clear Privacy Policy on the site.

Megavideo has an installable toolbar to simplify and speed up the mass uploading of videos.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? Forum? We found out..
It they are on Facebook or any other social network they are not telling us about it on their site.  No blog and no RSS feed are advertized either.  All a bit quiet really.
