How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
The site is split into photos, blogs and video sharing and there are filters such as ‘most viewed’, ‘most discussed’ and ‘most recent’.
There is a cross-site video search box, however the individual categories did not have their own search facility, alpha sort or any kind of sub categories to break down search results.
There is an alphabetical category list of channels on the video page – it displays A through to H and there is a ‘more’ button to catch the next half of the alphabet, however, this never takes you to the remainder of the list so you are left with just the A-H channels to select from.
Overall the navigation is unsophisticated and frustrating to use.
What video sharing options does this site offer? Can I share videos, embed videos, download or make comments here?.
There is a lot of foreign content and many of the video clips are short and lack the range and interest of other sites. However, should you find something you like then it can be emailed, shared and commented upon.
The problem with this site is finding something worthy of sharing.
Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..
An innovative site is buzzing with activity and has material to challenge, stimulate, amuse and entertain. This site is very well designed… it looks great, but once you scratch the surface it is left severely lacking.
The material on offer lacks the bite of other sites – it just doesn’t grab you – there are too many bland, banal uploads. The audience figures reflect this– the most viewed children’s clip had under 7,000 views, the most viewed funny had just over 4,000.
In terms of the profile of visitors, the ‘most viewed’ filters invariably come up with adult material and sports clips.
MetaTube contains low grade material that nobody wants to view. Hardly ground-breaking stuff.
