Material basically comes out at the quality it goes in… as long as it looks good at source it will look stunning on the screen.

Motionbox has two levels of service. The basic level is free and provides a good quality of service but the premium level pulls out all the stops and give members the benefit of glorious HD.

Motionox provides it members with a video sharing service via the uploading, editing and publication of videos.
It has some novel ways for members to share their video content – facilitating the creation of e-cards and DVDs from uploaded clips, add tags and organize clips into playlists and groups. You can also edit videos down to the ‘best bits’, saving viewers from trawling through the ‘boring bits’.
For those new to video sharing there is the cool ‘Ask Eric’ feature that guides you through the process of uploading and editing.
Videos can be embedded or shared.

Is this site invaded by commercials? We watched a range of videos and evaluated how many annoying adverts popped up before we could view what we wanted… .

There are adverts on the basic service but not for premium members.

Why is it different to other video sharing sites? We graded on originality and innovation..

Motionbox is a great tool to share videos online. It not only allows for video uploading but for editing and has just recently entered into a partnership with the Roku Channel Store, enabling customers to view their personal videos on a Roku player, in high quality (including high definition) “on any television with the click of the remote”.

In addition, their move into the business world, with Motionbox PRO, shows their continued development of their product to reach wider customers – finding new ways to utilize their technology to the benefit of others.
These new moves and some of the great feature available demonstrate the forward-looking nature of Motionbox.

How easy to use is the video upload tool? Are there clear guidelines? Are there privacy options? What is the limit of the size and type of video file that can be uploaded?.

Basic members have access to a massive 750MB of storage and standard definition playback, premium members have virtually unlimited storage and the benefit of high definition.
Uploading is simple from a PC or mobile phone and there is no restriction on video length. The storage space and video lengths knock out most of the completion.

Metacafe distinguishes itself from other video sharing sites such as YouTube, aiming to deliver high quality entertainment in the form of short video clips. It strives for a ‘sophisticated’, audience-driven approach.

The video company has a growing diversity of partners including ‘top movie studios, music labels, professional sports leagues, television networks, video game publishers and best-of-the-web production firms’.

The site appears to have lofty creative aspirations and be innovative in its approach but we are not so sure about its audience - 2 out of their top 3 top video channels are porn!
