The quality of videos varies, some are amateurish and have a shaky, blurred appearance whilst others are professionally produced in HD. YouTube is a mixed bag but offers viewers a range of viewing qualities up to 1080p HD.

YouTube is a commercial entity and there are adverts splattered all over the site. However, they do not interrupt with viewing and aren’t intrusive.

Most advertising is more subtle and marketed through video uploads – there is a whole host of YouTube content that is commercially produced and basically a corporate plug. YouTube has a close relationship with owner Google, so it is no surprise that Google ads feature highly on the site, but these can be closed by clicking the 'x' in the corner.
