Sidereel offers online streaming of TV shows, movies and anime.  They link in to Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, Hulu, Comedy and more, showing full episodes of present and past series.

The site combines a ‘wiki’, information-giving and user discussion service alongside links to downloads.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

The TV section allows you to search under categories such as Drama, Anime, News and Popular.  There are also featured clips for quick selections.

The movie selection is categorized by new releases, comedy, Sci-Fi etc.  Music is listed by genre.

Whilst the navigation is great at leading you to the show or movie you want (albeit through slow loading pages), too often searches end with a whimper rather than a bang… broken links and withdrawn material occur far too frequently.

Why is this site different to other streaming sites? This grades the originality of the site. .

The site is well designed and gives you glimpses of flair, with features like the ‘news’, ‘review’ and ‘discussion’ tabs that accompany each program choice.  The ‘wiki’ side of the site, providing interesting information on videos online, cast, crew etc. is also an interesting development for sites of this ilk.

However, at the end of the day Side Reel disappoints too often to leave a lasting impression.  There are just too many better sites out there, serving the same purpose.

This site is all style over substance.

The quality of TV shows is high – linking to high profile networks and listing recent shows.  The movie choice is more limited.

However, too many links end up going nowhere, so this online streaming site needs to be judged by what it actually offers and not what it lists as being available.

Sidereel is the classic example of a badly executed good idea.

Linking in to third party sites relies on the scruples of others.  Bearing in mind the copyright laws are broken by many video streaming sites, it is likely that some links are not quite above board.
